Old City Nightlife

As you may know, the City of Brotherly Love is a budding mecca for new and innovative food options, spread throughout the area’s various neighborhoods. It’s no secret that good eats go hand-in-hand with a hopping nightlife scene. So when you decide to settle into our apartments near Old City’s best restaurants, you’ll find yourself not only steeped within Philly’s rich history but also surrounded by all the lively evening action you could want, right at your fingertips. Here, some of our favorite spots for the perfect night on the town.

Amada
Jose Garces is a force to be reckoned with on the Philadelphia food scene, and this is the spot where he made his debut. One of eight successful restaurants the Iron Chef runs in town, Mexican tapas—think lamb meatballs; almond-stuffed, bacon-wrapped dates; and ham croquetas—are what you’ll find on the menu here. There are larger plates available as well, including lobster paella and even a whole roasted suckling pig.

Franklin Music Hall
This 2,500-person theater has been one of the premier spots to catch a live music act for more than four decades. Though the venue does accommodate guests of all ages on the main level, the balcony is the place to be. It’s 21-plus, has the best views in the house, and a fully stocked bar so you can enjoy a cocktail or two while listening to your favorite band perform. Whether you’re into classic rock, punk, or hip-hop, the always-rotating roster has something for everyone.

Stratus Lounge
What’s better than a chill lounge with great drink specials? How about one that’s on the roof? Happy hour drinks include $5 wine and beer, $10 cocktails, and half-price bottle service. Bring your dancing shoes Thursday through Saturday, when the resident DJ is spinning the hottest tracks. It’s not just libations on the menu either; if you arrive hungry, there are a few delectable snacks to choose from, including creamy burrata with smoked salmon, an assortment of upscale popcorn, and a selection of flatbreads.

Red Owl Tavern
For something a little more relaxed, this is the place to go. Here, you’ll experience a tavern vibe that honors the legacy of this historic city, but with a food menu that has a decidedly modern twist. There’s spicy red Thai curry mussels, braised short ribs, and the house special: the Red Owl Tavern burger, topped with tomato jam and smoked mozzarella. The drinks menu is dominated by an array of beer choices, but don’t miss a chance to try a specialty cocktail, like the Yakuza, a whiskey drink infused with green tea and charred spices.

When your home base is at our apartments near Old City’s best restaurants, choices abound. Don’t miss an opportunity to be in the part of a bustling, thriving, historic neighborhood that is never lacking in dining and entertainment. Contact Waterfront II today to learn about availability.
